Food and Drink

The Royal Oak Hotel, The Cross, Welshpool, Powys, SY21 7DG 01938 552217

The Eatery at the Royal Oak is so named because it offers a comprehensive, but not overwhelming, menu available to dine from both in the newly refurbished main restaurant and main bar area. The main menu is reviewed regularly by our kitchen team who source ingredients locally, but also travels further afield to obtain the ingredients that go into making our delicious dishes. Whether you are meeting with friends and family to unwind, or looking for somewhere to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, the Royal Oak is perfect. We offers a large selection of food for you to choose from. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a full three course meal or just a snack, the team have created a patisserie cabinet with treats that change daily, including chocolate fudge cake, muffins, pastries and scones. For larger groups we also have a 14 seater Oak Table with its own discrete area.

Drink of the moment

Every now and again we feature one of our great drinks products. This month's promotion is:

A perfect, festive drink to celebrate any occasion from getting off work on a Friday to seeing in the New Year. This raspberry flavoured sparkling drink with hints of cranberry and citrus can be yours for £5.95! Untitled-1

Our expert chefs can cater for private dining in one of our brand new seating areas. The Oak Table, which can easily seat 14, sits just off the new bar seating area meaning inclusion to the newly refurbished area whilst offering the privacy of a separated, open plan room.

Groups are also welcome in our restaurant as well though parties over the size of 12 cannot be guaranteed to be around one table, we do our best to accommodate all sizes.

For larger events such as functions and celebrations, or if you'd prefer a more private experience, our Powis Suite can comfortably seat up to 120 people. Find out more about this on our Functions & Events Page.

Local Ale & Beer

We're proud to support and serve traditionally brewed local beers.

The Six Bells Brewery only uses the best quality malt and hops as ingredients for our beer. They never use added sugars or processed ingredients which means you can always taste straight away the quality of a Six Bells pint.

Monty's Brewery is an award winning brewery based near Montgomery, Powys, in the heart of Mid Wales. Their beers include the award winning Sunshine, Mischief & their brand new gluten free beer Masquerade.
They brew regular, seasonal & special ales all year round.

Blacksheep Best Bitter - A classic well-hopped and beautifully balanced beer, with a deeply satisfying and refreshing taste that is followed by a distinctively dry and long bitter finish. Best enjoyed in true Black Sheep style, through a rich, creamy head.
